Following a successful first outing with its new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in the opening two rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend, JMH Automotive is now aiming to expand its activities to the FIA GT3 European Championship.
JMH Automotive announced last month that it would contest all 10-rounds of this year’s British GT series, with brothers Benji and Freddie Hetherington driving the team’s brand new GT3 Nissan GT-R. Having acquired the car just before the event at Oulton Park, the team was delighted to come away from the first two rounds with a pair of impressive top-ten finishes after a trouble-free weekend.
“We have been considering a campaign outside the UK for some time and, after such an excellent weekend at Oulton Park – with the new car showing so much potential – it has made our minds up”, said JMH Automotive Team Principal Ian Hetherington. “Joining the FIA GT3 series will not affect our commitments in the UK, as we fully intend to contest the rest of the British GT season. We are now looking for a driver who can help support us for the overseas races.”
With the next round of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Zolder on 22nd April, JMH Automotive is realistic about its chances of getting the car on the grid in Belgium. Therefore, following its performance at Oulton Park, the team is confident there’s more to come from the new car and now plans a series of tests before the next round of the British GT Championship at Nürburgring on 17th May.
