It is with considerable sadness that Scott Martin has decided to step down from his position as Club Membership Secretary. Scott made his intentions clear at the 2011 AGM when he said he would step down once the GTROC Executive Club has been launched. That it took perhaps longer than Scott wished he did honour his commitment and for that the GTROC Board, Management Team and all Club Members are, I am sure, extremely thankful for all his efforts and hard work.
Scott was one of the founding members of the GTROC. As an original Board member it was Scott who created much of what the GTROC still uses today. But, aside from the club rules, membership packs and everything else that Scott worked on perhaps the most notable achievement was something that he said right at the very first Board meeting. Scott was absolutely clear
“the GTROC should stand for the very best and stand for quality”
It was Scott’s idea that annual membership cards are made from laser etched stainless steel, something that no other club to this day has been able to match. Since then the club membership has evolved and again Scott was key in the entire process and was the person charged with bringing the idea of real carbon fibre membership cards to life. So, whenever you see a membership pack, a membership card or even the GTROC’s ‘Carbon Collection’ of merchandise, perhaps then you then you can begin to realise just how significant Scott’s influence has been.
Scott drives an exceptionally well maintained R32 GT-R. Over the years the car has come to represent one of the best examples of the model and it is hoped now that Scott will be spending less time in front of his computer doing GTROC work we will see him at more GTROC events.
It has been a pleasure for all of us to work with Scott over the years. The demands of a young family means that he had to make a decision and we all thank him for his commitment shown over the last nine years.
Thank you Scott and we really hope to see you at some shows and events this year.
