Nissan Motorsport have finished strongly in the final support race at the Australian Grand Prix with the team recording impressive drives from all four cars.
Todd Kelly qualified 5th for the final 13 lap event around Albert Park & savvy tyre management ensured the #7 carsales Racing Driver remained competitive for the duration. Today’s 4th placed result was his best for the event. Showing increasingly consistent pace throughout the weekend helped elevate Kelly to 8th in the points for the event.
A quartet of consistent performances from Michael Caruso left him just 1 point away from finishing inside the Top 3 for the weekend. The #23 NISMO driver started today’s event in 7th & battled hard to cross the line in 5th. Caruso is confident the team can carry this momentum to the next round of the Championship in Tasmania.
Rick Kelly made good progress through the field to finish in 13th, in what was an impressive charge from his 20th qualifying position. The #15 Sengled Racing driver had suffered a challenging weekend up to that point, but to battle hard in the final event is a big positive heading into the next event.
Simona De Silvestro has finished her first AGP weekend with a gutsy drive to finish 16th in Race 4. The #78 Team Harvey Norman driver avoided the early race carnage to now tick another track off her ‘to race in 2017’ list.
