The final GTROC London Meet of the year has always been a fundraiser as well, whether it was to raise funds for LUPIS, SHELTER, THE STROKE ASSOCIATION, HELP FOR HEROES or the AIR AMBULANCE to name a few.
This year the event was also in memorial of Daniel Short, who passed away on Christmas Day last year very suddenly in his mid twenties.
Dan was a GTROC Life Member & GTROC Partner/Trader who had been part of the Club actively for many years, whether helping out the Club at events or building his own carbon parts business that can be seen on many of the Members Skylines & GT-Rs.
This years chosen Charity was the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION which was decided by Dan’s family & partner, Tara, prior to the event.
As always 100% of all proceeds made on the day go to this worthy cause.
So the day of the actual event went very well. Despite the inclement weather leading up to the event, it remaining dry on the day with over thirty Nissan Skylines, Stageas, GT-R’s & other Nissan family – Datsun’s & Infiniti’s – turning up to pay their respects & socialise. We were also honored that Dan’s Mum & Dad came along with Tara spending a good majority of the day looking round the Ace Cafe & the cars that Dan loved so much.
EDK Media – courtesy Mr Ed Keating Esq. – came along to offer their support & to help raise money did hour long photo shoots of peoples cars with his fee going to the charity as well – thank you from us all Ed.
The Club itself arranged a number of goodie bags made up with Nissan, GT-R, NISMO & GTROC stuff for the raffle that was drawn at 3pm on the day. We’d like to thank all those that took part & congratulations to the winners – some of whom we will contact shortly as they were not there for the draw.
So, the important bit!
How much money did we make for the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION?
After a count up the total amount made with thanks to all those that donated was £331.65
The GTROC will round this sum up to £350.00 & will present this to the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION in Dan’s name.
Photos of the event can be found on the GTROC Facebook Page & others including an album from Mr Keating can be found on the GTROC Facebook Group :
The next GTROC London Meet will now be in 2020 on Saturday the 30th April from 11:00am onwards – we look forward to seeing everyone next year.
